I had a burger, fries, and
strawberry milkshake for my breakfast.
Restaurant opened at 10:30 in the morning, I was there at 10:25 at what used to be my favorite kind of franchise hamburger place.
See, I have this thing about not wanting to eat better, because I find that once I eat better, the better kind of messes with my taste buds of the stuff that good is good enough. So one of my favorite hamburger places is a good is good enough. Decent burgers, decent service, has a drive-thru, prices are good, I'm okay. Normally I can eat their burgers all the time.
Then I happened to go to another place the other day, and I'll give you the name, went to Cookout.
Although I had a problem with their drive-thru that nobody answered the drive-thru for the car in front of me, so I ended up going into the walk-in. The burger was good, the milkshake was great; matter of fact, I couldn't even pull it through the straw, I like their milkshakes. Their coleslaw as a side was good, their hush puppies were good.
So I had a cheeseburger with hush puppies and coleslaw and a milkshake for approximately like a, matter of fact, I had two orders. So two full orders, one for me and one for the other person, came to $15.08, and that included burger, side, two sides, and a drink for them, burger, two sides, and a milkshake for me, came to $15.08.
And then I just went to my old burger place, and I got a burger, fries, and milkshake, and it came to $11.00 and change. So Cookout was less expensive, and tasted better, and gave me better options.
I really liked their hush puppies, their coleslaw was good, their fries were decent.
Unfortunately, it's a further drive; however, it has now knocked the other place out of the box. And for me, I don't really like that, because I was okay with the other place, they had two locations, the drive-thru was fine, I was okay with it.
I'm not okay with it anymore, all because I've been exposed to a place that's much better.
And that, my friends, is why I try not to go to better, because it makes me not like my "okays" anymore.
That's my issue, nobody else's, it's just what I discovered about my taste buds.
Once you show me better, then I'm not happy with the other stuff anymore. So Cookout has knocked my other burger place out of the running.
Way to go, Cookout 🥺
Rico here, ... later.
